Currently, a book that will be published by Routledge Press is being co-written by Barbara Bickel and R. Michael Fisher drawing from the learning research with 35 participants of the bi-weekly and weekly drop-in Happenings where Spontaneous Creation-Making (SCM) was facilitated by Barbara and Michael. Currently, the practice of SCM continues as facilitated on ZOOM by Hallie Morrison out of Side Street Studios in Elgin, Illinois.

The Happening Invitation

Title: Communal Creative Practices in Quarantine Time/Crisis:
Making Sense of Our Times and Our Lives

Purpose: Utilizing interactive on-line methods for learning to inquire and learn through creativity for the purpose of connection, compassion, health and justice.

Description: The current Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has and will continue to change the world in major ways. As a research creation lab Studio M* would like to contribute to the learning that will be most useful in crisis and the opportunities it presents, individually and collectively. We imagine doing this in a caring community of creative and artistic communal practices.

Knowing that so many of us are in self-quarantine and social distancing, we wish to offer a series of online participatory scheduled Spontaneous Creation-Making Happenings. As Studio M* artists-educators we invite you to join us in an ongoing exploration of both engaging in unique practices and documenting them to contribute to research on how these communal practices may assist us in these troubling times.
